In the early days of Ackroyd’s Detroit shop, a visiting Scottish Master Baker named John Lindsay shared his family’s shortbread recipe – four ingredients, made properly – and it changed the bakery forever. Three generations later, the formula hasn’t moved: flour, butter, sugar, and salt, baked to a sandy, melt-on-the-tongue crumb at the Redford, Michigan institution Al and Silas Ackroyd founded in 1949. Eight pieces of the shortbread that built the sweet side of one of America’s only traditional Scottish bakeries.

• Ackroy’s Scottish Bakery ships Monday – Friday of each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Shortbread
  • Shortbreads ship fresh with ice packs, which may thaw during transit.
  • Shortbread may be kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 14 days.
  • Shortbread should not be frozen or refrigerated.

• Cream
  • Cream arrives ready to enjoy.
  • Unopened cream has a long shelf life, approximately 12 months from date of delivery.
  • After opening, refrigerate and use within 5 days.
  • Do not freeze.

• Jam
  • Jam arrives ready to enjoy!
  • Store unopened jam in a cool, dark and dry place for 12-18 months.
  • Refrigerate jam after opening and consume within 3-4 weeks.
