Description
The black & white cookie is New York’s unofficial official cookie, and Sarge’s bakes them big enough that nobody has to fight over the chocolate half. A dozen large, soft, cake-like rounds come frosted down the middle in chocolate and vanilla fondant. They’re from the Murray Hill deli-diner Abe “Sarge” Katz, a retired NYPD sergeant, opened on Third Avenue in 1964, one of the city’s last make-everything-in-house delis. Perfect for an office share, a New York care package, or an afternoon coffee that calls for something to split.
