This kit includes everything you need to make Lenny’s famous calamari at home, including their legendary Mild and Medium sauces!

Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of Howard Beach, Queens, Lenny’s Clam Bar has become a beloved local landmark since Italian immigrant Joseph DeCandia first opened its doors back in 1974. Lenny’s quickly developed a reputation for great seafood and Italian-American classics, and a series of commercials featuring DeCandia made it a household name in New York. Today run by Joseph DeCandia, Jr., Lenny’s remains one of the most iconic restaurants in Queens.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• Lenny’s Clam Bar ships Monday-Thursday of each week.
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes.
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Kit ship frozen with dry ice.
• Dry ice may dissipate in transit.
• Do not remove dry ice with bare hands.
• Raw calamari can remain frozen for up to 1 month or in the fridge for up to 3 days.
• Sauce can remain frozen for up to 6 months or in the fridge for up to 1 month.
• Breading flour mix can last up to 1 month at room temperature.
• Once defrosted, raw calamari should be cooked within 2 days. It is not recommended to store/reheat cooked/fried calamari.
• Frizelle can last up to 3 days at room temperature or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

To Serve

• If frozen, defrost raw calamari in the refrigerator.
• Once thawed pat dry and place on a tray in the fridge for 24 hours.
• After that time, place 1″ of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
• Put breading flour mix into a separate bowl and place each piece of raw calamari in the mix, removing once coated.
• Once the oil is hot, start placing the raw calamari in the pan slowly, so the oil doesn’t cool down.
• When the calamari turns golden brown (2-4 minutes depending on temperature of oil) , remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and put on a plate.
• Heat sauce in a separate pan or in the microwave until hot and serve alongside the calamari as a dipping sauce.
• Frizelle should be served as an accompaniment to the calamari – can be broken apart and dipped into the sauce or eaten plain.
• Serve and enjoy!
