Since 1938, the coal-fired oven at Sally’s Apizza on Wooster Street has been producing the thin, char-blistered crust that defines New Haven apizza – “ah-beetz” in the Neapolitan dialect the Italian immigrants who settled this neighborhood brought with them. The pepperoni pie adds Sally’s housemade tomato sauce and mozzarella to a generous layer of pepperoni, the coal heat doing what no gas oven replicates: a crust with sweetness on the interior, bitterness at the edge, and the kind of char that New Haven regulars have been arguing is superior to every other style since the Consiglio family first fired up the oven.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE
- Sally’s Apizza ships Monday-Thursday of each week
- Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
- Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!
- Pizzas ship frozen with dry ice.
- Dry ice may dissipate in transit, product may thaw.
- Do not remove dry ice with bare hands.
- Upon arrival, store pizzas in the freezer.
- Pizzas may be stored for up to 1 month in the freezer.
To Serve
From Thawed
- Place a baking pan or pizza stone on the middle rack of the oven and preheat to 450°F.
- Discard the cardboard insert and place the pizza onto the preheated pan (alternatively, place the pizza directly on the middle oven rack).
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, or until the crust is slightly crispy and the center is hot.
- Transfer to a cutting board and let sit for 1 minute.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
