These dogs are split down the middle and served on a toasted bun with Walter’s signature mustard: a blend of choice mustard seeds, relish, and spices. One bite of these amazing hot dogs will turn any skeptic into a full-on fanatic. This kit comes with everything you need to recreate these dogs at home: hot dogs, buns, and special mustard. All you need to do is butter up your griddle!

Opened by Walter Warrington in 1919, Walter’s Hot Dogs has been a Westchester, New York institution for more than a century. Today, patrons queue up at Walter’s Hot Dogs’ copper-roofed pagoda on Palmer Avenue in Mamaroneck for gourmet hot dogs, split down the middle and served with mustard on a toasted bun (the building is a Nationally Registered Historical Landmark). Run by the fourth generation of Walter’s family, Walter’s Hot Dogs was voted number one in the US by Gourmet magazine and the New York Times described them as “topping the whole list” of noteworthy hot dogs across the country in 2004.

INSTRUCTIONS / STORAGE

• Walter’s Hot Dogs Co ships Monday – Friday of each week
• Orders cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes
• Orders shipped to Alaska and Hawaii via 2-day will incur an additional $20 charge or $35 for Overnight Shipping. Sorry guys!

• Hot dogs ship with ice packs, may thaw in transit.
• Upon arrival, store hot dogs in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.
• Freezing is not recommended.

To Serve

• On a flat top griddle, set heat to medium-high.
• Melt butter on the griddle.
• Place whole hot dogs on the griddle and gently spoon butter over them.
• Cook 2-3 minutes on each side until exterior is golden-brown.
• Once both sides are crisp and golden brown, split hot dogs down the middle using tongs.
• Place hot dogs split-side down on the griddle and add a spoonful of butter on top.
• Top hot dogs with a grill press or plate and cook 2-3 additional minutes.
• While hot dogs are cooking, add butter to the griddle and place buns face-down.
• Avoid placing too much butter to avoid buns becoming soggy.
• Toast buns for 2-3 minutes until golden-brown.
• Once hot dogs have cooked, transfer to toasted buns and slather with mustard.
• Optional: substitute butter with margarine or a non-dairy butter.
• Serve and enjoy!
